| Sleeping Beauty’, is approximately a 4 hour drive from Cape Town International Airport and 2 hours from George Airport. Families can spend the whole day on the pure, white sandy beaches of Stilbaai, where the water is clean and beaches are safe. There is a blue flag beach at Lappiesbaai, with lifeguards during the December school holidays. During December the town´s holiday atmosphere changes into one of festivity. The famous 'touches rugby' and Trans Aghullas boat race takes place during the Festive Season. An astonishing richness of indigenous flora, hundreds of bird species and a mild climate, make Stilbaai a perfect year-round destination. South Africa´s only tame eels are hand fed at the Tourism Bureau at 11:00 daily, except Sundays. Shore based whale watching can be enjoyed from June to October.
